You shoud soon receive by separate email a copy of the latest edition of the
"Farmery Families" newsletter (please email me if you haven't received this
by the begining of next week) but in the meantime I would like to invite you
to this years annual gatheing:

"FARMERY ..

a dweller near or worker at the infirmary"

September 29th 2007 will see the seventh international Farmery gathering, to
be held in the village hall at Bracebridge Heath, near Lincoln, with guest
speakers and the opportunity to perhaps meet distant Farmery cousins and
learn of other people's research. We would be very pleased for you to join
us. Full details are below:

2007 Farmery Gathering

10.00am Doors open, coffee
10.30am Welcome and introductions (Alan Moorhouse)
10.45am Marriage and Birth in Late Medieval England (Geoff Bryant)
11.45am Open/workshop session
12.30pm Lunch (at leisure)
2.00pm Afternoon session commences
2.15pm DNA Research for Family History (John Creer)
3.15pm Open/workshop session
4.15pm Tea
4.30pm Close

Geoff Bryant is a local author and WEA tutor.

John Creer is a member of the Guild of One Name Studies and has extensively
researched his surname, which originates on the Isle of Man, including a DNA
research project to help prove links between the various Creer families in
the absence of documentary proof. The FARMERY DNA research project will be
launched at the gathering.

I will have the Custodian Farmery database with me along with other Farmery
records and indexes that I have and once again there will be plenty of time
for informal discussion between those present with mutual interests. There
will be plenty of table space available to anyone wishing to bring their own
research material and notes.

I will also have print outs of the actual household of every Farmery in
England and Wales in every census from 1841 to 1901.

Lunch can be taken at leisure in one of the three pubs within a short walk
of the village hall but service can be a bit slow so you are welcome to
bring a packed lunch.

On the Saturday evening anyone staying in Lincoln overnight is welcome to
meet up for dinner; if you intend to join us for dinner on the Saturday a
£5.00 per person deposit is requested as the restaurant requires me to pay a
reservation deposit. Please contact me if you need any advice on
accommodation options.

A visit is planned for the Sunday morning for anyone wanting to make a
weekend of their visit to Lincoln.

The gathering is totally non-profit making but a donation of £5.00 per
person (payable on the day) is suggested to cover hall hire, speaker's fees
and refreshments.

I would appreciate it if you could RSVP to indicate your attendance, or
otherwise, on this day. Even if you are unable to join us I'd still be
pleased to hear from you and about your Farmery family history.

This annual event is held on the last Saturday in September and the date for
next year is September 27th 2008.

We look forward to meeting you.
