All,

This seemed like a good time to remind Farrar and Farrar's Island
researchers of some things that haven't been posted in a while.

First, there is a wonderful article on Cecily Reynolds Bailey Jordan Farrar
Montaque Parker in the Virginia Living magazine, Vol. 4, No. 4, p. 154-159
"Finding Cecily" A Jamestown Story, by Carey Roberts published in June 2007.
This remarkable woman is my husbands' 10 GGM. She came to the colonies as
a 10 year old girl, on her own, married 5 times, died on Farrar's Island
(even though she had married twice after his death, and had moved to other
counties and lands). William Farrar was "the true love of her life".

This remarkable woman is an "Ancient Planter" in her own right, and
therefore if you are a descendant of William Farrar and Cecily Reynolds, you
can join the Jamestown Society under EITHER Cecily Reynolds or William
Farrar.

My husband's FARRAR line is Larry ALEXANDER b. 1937 CA > Leonard Ray
ALEXANDER b. 1911 TX > Lillian Margaret PONDER b. 1891 TX > Joseph Henry
PONDER b. 1869 MS > Berryman Shumate PONDER b. 1839 GA > Catherine Carter
PRUITT b. 1823 GA > Diannah Hillsman FARRAR b. 1806 GA > Abner FARRAR b.
1786 VA > Thomas FARRAR b. 1726 Farrar's Island, VA > George FARRAR b. Abt
1690 Farrar's Island, VA > William FARRAR b. Abt 1657 Farrar's Island, VA >
William FARRAR b. Abt 1627 Farrar's Island, VA > William FARRAR b. Bef 28
Apr 1583 Croxton Lincolnshire ENG and Cecily Reynolds b. 1601 prob. Burnham,
Buckinghamshire, ENG

My Brother's FARRAR line is: Richard Warren TUCKER b. 1950 VA . Wallace
Upton TUCKER b. 1918 VA > Wallace Upton TUCKER b. 1890 VA > Walter L. TUCKER
b. 1853 VA > Cynthia Saunders WHITLOW b. Abt 1827 VA > William WHITLOW b.
Abt 1780 VA > Henry Othello WHITLOW b. VA > Henry Othello WHITLOW b. VA >
Martha FARRAR b. VA > Thomas FARRAR b. 1665 Farrar's Island, VA > William
FARRAR b. Abt 1627 Farrar's Island, VA > William FARRAR b. Bef 28 Apr 1583
Croxton Lincolnshire ENG and Cecily Reynolds b. 1601 prob. Burnham,
Buckinghamshire, ENG

If there is anyone on this list who descends thru the Martha FARRAR who
married the William WHITLOW in the second linage, I would love to have more
information on this family. The sources are woefully thin for this
generation.

Additional info 1: If you descend thru Gen 10 (George FARRAR b. Abt 1690
Farrar's Island, VA ) on the first linage, you are a cousin to 3rd President
Thomas Jefferson.

Additional info 2: In linage 1 above, Thomas FARRAR b. 1726 Farrar's
Island, VA is a Patriot of the Revolutionary WAR. Descendants of this man
may join the NSDAR by proving their linage to him. There is no proven
patriot in linage 2, but that doesn't mean that > Henry Othello WHITLOW b.
VA was not a patriot, only that it hasn't been PROVEN so far.

Let's get this list rolling again with some real sources. It's fun to
research your family, but it's not truth until you have facts to base it on.

v/r,

Beverly Alexander

Culpeper, VA
