Thanks for the additional information! By the way of filling things in,
my father was Joseph Willard Fay. He was born June 30th 1916, and I
believe he was born in Somerville, MA.
He was married to Arlene L (or M) Best of Rochester MN. Her birth date
was December 7th, 1924. They are both now deceased, but had had two
children:
1. Me,.. Joseph Willard Fay Jr. Born March 18th, 1945, in Rochester,
MN. A musician. I have three children:: Paul, Dianne, and Peter
2. My sister...Nancy Fay, who married Leslie Reed. Nancy was born in
a hospital in the Boston suburbs...Neither of us remembers which
one. Nancy has three children: Shawn, Heather, and Nichole. I
will fill in the dates when I get them.
There are several names I see that you list as brothers that I have no
knowledge of. The following are those that I knew (and remember)
I know about Kathleen Fay (Kitty),who was married to Joseph May. They
had two children: Francis May, and Joseph May, neither of which bore
children.
I know about Eileen Fay, who married Elmer Brooks. They lived in
Hopkinton, MA which was where we lived for several years, before moving
to Minnesota. Their children were (not in order of age) :
1. Pauline Brooks who married a fellow named Peck, and was a noted
author of books for children, and lived most recently somewhere on
Cape Cod. She later wanted to be known as Paula, probably due to
her publishing activities.
2. Robert Brooks, who was married, and had several children. I don't
remember his wife's name, or his childrens' names. He was a
successful business man, until his death about 8 or 10 years ago.
3. Richard Brooks, who is still, as far as I know, alive, and living
somewhere in MA.
I Knew Aurthur Fay--the oldest of the boys, He never married.
I knew Earl Fay, who also remained a bachelor all his life. He was, in
his younger years, a talented singer and dancer.
I knew Marion Fay, who married William Ahearn, (I think that's the right
spelling). The lived for years in West Roxbury. He was a captain in
the Boston Police force for a number of years. They had two children:
1. Joan (I forgot her husband's name, but will get that to you later)
2. Marion (jr), who married Robert Ritcey, and had two children (get
the kids names to you later)
I do believe that Elizabeth had a couple of other children who died
shortly after birth, so that could account for the other names on the list.
Sorry their are so many holes in this, but I will fill in the voids when
I get in touch with my cousin Marion.
Hope this helps someone else. And, of course, I will be very interested
in any additional information such as: Where in Ireland (city and
county) were our forebears born?
Joseph Willard Fay Jr.
