Although the rugby leauge club has an official site the history of the club
is contained in the following lines.


History
The Featherstone Rovers Club was formed in 1902, reformed in 1906 and became
a professional Club on 14 June 1921. Since that time the Club has emerged as
one of Britain's traditional and famous sporting institutions.

If these dates fit then I suggest you try and get hold of the club
secretaty, since the club is based in the heart of the West Riding mining
community what anyone from Kent was doing in the village of Featherstone in
the West Riding of Yorkshire is beyond me, and reckon it was a family story
made up because of the connection with the name.
