In reply to the message from Pat Walker re old maps, my husband Frank found the web site through his Dorset research at http://www.old-maps.co.uk and we have been looking up some of our family areas.

You are right, they are very good maps with lots of detail. The one for Dunstable in Beds even shows the old Roman road, which wanders across from Dunstable, south of Totternhoe and Eddlesborough, down east of Beacon Hill and Ivinghoe across to Tring wharf and Tring.
