For those who are interested:

Winfield S. Featherston was born in Rutherford County, Tn Aug 8, 1820 to
Charles Featherston and Lucy Pitts. Chas & Lucy were mar in Va in 1795 and
moved to Tn in 1815. They had 7 ch and Winfield who was the youngest. At
the outbreak of the CW he was Colonel of the Seventeenth Mississippi. He was
recognized for bravery and promoted to Brigadier General March 4, 1862.
After the CW he settled at Holly Springs, Ms and practiced law. In 1848 he
married Mary Holt Harris of Columbus, Ms and 2nd married in 1858 Lizzie
McEwen d/o Colonel A. C. McEwen. He had eight ch two of whom died in infancy
and two, with his wife, of yellow fever in 1878. In 1889 General Featherston
failed to secure the nomination for Governor. He died at Holly Springs, Ms
May 28, 1891.

THE ABOVE DATA WAS OBTAINED ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO FROM A BOOK IN THE HOLLY
SPRINGS LIBRARY THAT WAS WRITTEN BY HAMILTON, REGARDING HOLLY SPRINGS, MS

A Book written by Marie Rutledge in 1977 says he was born in 1819; his first
wife was named Mary Scott Harris and that he is buried in Hill Crest Cemetery
in Holly Springs. Ms. Further his parents were married 15 January 1794 in
Powhatan County, Va. & had nine children. Lucy Pitts was the dau of Lunsford
and Elizbeth (Crutcher) Pitts.
