Hi Naomi,

The Court Directory was a list of all those people in Kent thought important
enough to be in a directory, basically.

I looked up the general "Court Directory" and I looked up Tunbridge Wells
(and Bromley and Chiselhurst) - and what you see is what I found. There are
only other towns to be looked up!

I tried to find the marriage of George Featherstone and Elizabeth STEED - I
checked 1857 - 1864 with no luck. There's always next time when ever!
Elizabeth Steed was Alice's mum (according to her birth certificate), so I
think possibly, bearing in mind her age the Elizabeth wife of George in the
1881 census is a second wife. The 1881 wife was born about 1845.

Have you come across George Fawkes FEATHERSTONE before? I don't know if we
can assume he is Fawkes FEATHERSTONE son of George, brother of Frank.
In the index of wills on the Featherstone Society web page Fawkes is listed
as 1912 (Kent) and Fritz 1933 (Kent) - I expect they are ours - I can't
imagine there were too mant Fritz and Fawkes Featherstone's around in Kent!

We are getting there slowly!

I still haven't copied my minidisk of Henry Featherstone onto tape yet -
sorry.

This looks interesting. What is the import of a "Court Directory" ?
You have Frank Featherstone , June's grandfather , his brothers Frederick,
George Fawks, and William Henry.
Is there anyone who could look this up for me, as I have no chance of doing
it myself?
