Barbara;
Glad to be of assistance. Genealogy Reports are a different and much easier
trick.
Here's what to do:
Create the Genealogy Report in FTM.
While the report is displayed, go up to the Tool Bar and click on "Edit" in
the pull down menu pick "Copy Genealogy Report." Then open MS Word. (You'll
have to minimize the FTM window in the right hand top corner by clicking on
the - box.) Once you have Word open, (i.e., blank/new document) put your
cursor on the page, right click, and choose "Paste." Presto! There's your
report. You can save it and attach it to e-mail and send it to anyone.
Good Luck,
Darlene
For the others, here's the instructions, I originally gave Barbara, who now
knows how to generate GEDCOMs out of FTM.
Barbara;
Here's what you could do---create a Descendant Tree for your branch.
Click on the Icon with the Red Boxes Tree...it will give you two options.
Choose "Standard."
Then click on "Contents" up on the tool bar; and choose "Items to Include"
this will give you a pop-up box where you can choose the items you want
included in the tree from the left-hand side--click on the ones you want one
at a time and hit the > key to move it over to the right.
I usually include in trees the First, Middle, Last name option, the
Birthdate/Location option, Marriage Date/Location, and Death Date/Location
options----when you pick each one of these, be sure to choose the
"abbreviated" option for display.
Then click on the "Items to Include" under the "Contents" option again, and
choose the "# of Generations."
After you finish choosing what Items you want to include in the tree. Then
click on the "Format" option on the Tool Bar; and choose the "Book Layout"
option.
Now you are ready to save it as a GEDCOM file. Here's how:
Go up to the tool bar, and click on "File" choose "Copy/Export Individuals in
Tree" then you will get the pop-up box to "save" the file.
Give it a "File Name" like Branch 2, then just below choose click on the
arrow on the "File Type" line and pick .GED, then hit the Save button.
This creates a GEDCOM file of your tree. When you send an e-mail you can
attach the file.
Try it and let me know if you need more help. Otherwise, mail it to me at
