Banns
Entry 622 1822 Banns of marriage between Thomas FEATHERSTONE bachelor of
this parish and Rebecca AUSTIN spinster of this parish Sundays 1, 8 and 15
December.
Marriage
Entry 102 (1822) Thomas FEATHERSTONE of this parish and Rebecca AUSTIN of
this parish spinster where married in this church by banns this twenty ninth
day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty two by me
?J Stilwell? Minister.
This marriage solemnized between us Thos. Featherstone and Rebecca Austin
(both signed) in the presence of William Derbyshire and Sarah Curtis (both
made their mark).
So I guess my John Laurence Featherstone was a bastard then (the letter B
before the word son rather stuck out), Thomas Featherstone husband of
Rebecca being buried in March 1831 either sired John when he was about to
die, or Rebecca was pretty quick off the mark in finding a new man! By my
reckoning there is virtually a ten month gap here!
