Subject: [FEEFHS] Hamburg list 1902 - Galinsky family from Jelgava, Latvia
Date: Wed, 25 Feb 2009 16:12:51 EST
Hi folks
I am new to this list.
I am trying to find information on following members of the GALINSKY family
who appeared on the Hamburg lists, sailing 1st October 1902 on the Leicester
for Grimsby UK, originating from Jelgava, now in Latvia.
Galinsky Hirschel aged 22 Occupation Hairdresser (journeyman)
Single
Galinsky Chaskel aged 23 Occupation Tailor (journeyman)
Married
Galinsky Amalie aged 24
Married
I believe that Chaskel & Amalie anglised their first names to Harris & Sarah
appearing on the UK Census 1911 in Leeds, originating from Russia, with a
family (all born Leeds) :-)
Abraham born 1902
Minnie born 1903
Dorah born 1906
Louis Myer born 1908 **
There followed Leah (1911)** and Isaac (1917)**.
** UK birth certificates for these children state mother's maiden name was
Sarah WOLFSON.
Would appreciate any contact & advise from members of this list as to how I
can pursue this research. This is my first time researching East European
families.
