Hi Jonny,
I wish I knew more about Albemarle Co. and could be of more help.
James and brother John were in the southern part of the county in 1794.
The first James I found was in the northern part of the county in 1787;
he was still there in 1788, 1789, and 1790. I couldn't find a James in
1791, but there was a James in the southern part of the county in 1792,
1793, 1794, 1795, and 1796.
Shirley Doran's ancestors were in Albemarle Co., and she has a John
Ferguson, born about 1780 in VA, but I'm not sure where.
She also told me about a James Bransford Ferguson, born about 1750 in
VA, who lived in Nelson Co. He was reported to be the son of Agnes
Bransford and James Ferguson.
There was a Daniel Ferguson who lived in the northern part of the
county, who married Nancy Eastin 28 Dec 1791. Nancy was the daughter of
William Eastin and Mary Ann Ferguson, but I have no idea who Mary Ann
Ferguson's parents were. Mary Ann Ferguson might have had a sister,
Judith, who married James Whittle Flanagan because they all deeded land
to Daniel Ferguson in Albemarle Co. Also, a Mary Easton deeded land to
Daniel and Lawrence Ferguson in Albemarle Co.
Nancy Eastin and Daniel Ferguson had sons Charles and Stephen. Charles
moved to Hendricks Co., IN and Stephen remained in Albemarle Co.
I wish I knew something about Peter and Charles and also Elizabeth who
is listed in 1782. She must be the widow of someone.
I am also wondering about a Samuel who appears in the southern part of
the county in 1794, and he is there in 1795. The next time I found a
Samuel was in 1801. I know that Gary Barton had a Samuel from Albemarle
Co., but he said there is no evidence to believe that this is the same
Samuel as his.
I always thought that perhaps the Fergusons in the northern part of the
county were related, but since you didn't match Dorene's dad, I guess
they weren't. I wish we could find some living male descendants of
these folks.
Good luck, and have a good day.
Best wishes,
Sharon Clark
