subscribers let me once again welcome you to our project! With any luck
someone will have a copy of Ripley's Believe It Or Not and be able to
report what it has to say of the marriage to Annie Laurie.

I looked around a bit on the net and found that Elizabeth Hume PAYNE,
born 18 Oct 1869 in Scott Co., KY, married Volney Wheat FERGUSON 26 Jun
1888. This is according to:

It would appear that he was born 1868 in Bourbon, Kentucky according to
a few databases on Rootsweb; see for example:

If this is correct then your ancestry can be traced back to Abraham
FERGUSON born about 1775 in Fauquier, Virginia. We have several
subscribers with expertise on the FERGUSON in Virginia, perhaps one of
them knows more of Abraham.
