Hi Angus,
Terrific information, thank you!

I think your best leads are those 'hits' you found on Genes Reunited. At
least here, as opposed to the phone book, if we contact someone we can
be sure they are interested in family history. Following your lead then,
I contacted Margaret Ferguson who owns one of the trees you refered to
Genes Reunited. The eariest ancestor she lists is Thomas Ferguson b.
1897, Oban. - that's good, its early enough we can work it back with
data online. She also shows some males born in the 1950's - that's good
because they are probably alive and capable of donating DNA.

Isn't it amazing how hard it is to figure out in which parish Inverawe
is located? Using the GENUKI search engine the best I could do was find
Taynuilt and even then it listed only nearby churches:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/churchdb/

Parishes/churches within 3 miles of - Taynuilt
~ 2 Miles WNW, Church of Scotland, Muckairn
~ 3 Miles NW, Church of Scotland, Ardchattan

Cheers,
Colin
