To get the most out of your results you will want to upload your data to
Ysearch. This will allow you to search that database for matches. It
will also allow others searching for matches to find you in the event of
a match. Further, much of what the genetic genealogy community knows of
haplogroups comes from statistical analysis of the haplotypes that have
been uploaded into the Ysearch database.
Only about half of our 100 plus participants have uploaded their data to
this database. Stephanie reports that at the recent conference she
attended that the most common reason participants do not upload their
data is they do not know how.
Here's how!
1. Log into to your personal page provided by Family Tree DNA.
2. Click the orange tab that is labeled "Y-DNA Matches"
3. Now you are on a page: "Match Y-DNA results to other Family Tree DNA
customers"
4. Click where it says "Click here to upload to Ysearch.org"
5. You should now be in a new Window and Ysearch page titled "Create a
New User"
6. Note all the numbers are already filled in.
7. Fill in the blanks
8. Don't worry about Latitude/Longitude as its too awkward
9. Finally click "Save information"
