Subject: [FERGUSON-DNA] NEW MEMBER OF DNA LIST
Date: Fri, 11 May 2007 22:16:41 EDT
I have recently ordered a kit for my father and was asked to submit an
introduction to the list; thus, this email.
My father, Herbert C. Ferguson, is 93 years old; however, I have researched
our Ferguson line for about 25 years (Incidentally, I am the daughter so I
will
be submitting my father's DNA). Because of his age, I will be communicating
with the list, results, etc.
I have substantially documented my Ferguson line as follows:
Herbert C. Ferguson b 1913 GA
Archa Floyd Ferguson b 1891 GA
Coleman W. Ferguson b 1839 GA
Coleman Ferguson bc 1783 VA died 1864 GA
The proverbial brick wall is that my first documentation of Coleman Ferguson
is that he married Mary (Polly) Profitt 1811 Wilkes Co. NC. The bondsman was
David Rousseau. Her father was John Profitt. Coleman and Polly left Wilkes
Co. NC
1814 (according to the tax digest showing that he was a tax defaultor that
year).
The next documentation for him is in 1825 Habersham Co. GA marrying
Lucretia Bonner. He left a very good paper trail until his death in
Cherokee Co. GA 1864.
Over the past 25 years, I have hired professional researchers, scanned
everything I could
find on Wilkes Co. NC records, communicated with other Ferguson researchers
both in
Wilkes Co. and other places, and submitted queries even on the Ferguson List.
So far, no one has ever had any information on him other than the above. My
last stab
is to try my father's DNA testing.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will obtain more information....even
if it is to
eliminate some Ferguson's. I look forward to being a part of this project.
