Subject: [FERGUSON-DNA] Phylogenetic Trees

I have been working to make better use of the available software to
draw better Phylogenetic Trees. Results are now online for each of the
major haplogroups and their subgroups. Of particular interest I drew a
tree for all of R1b to see how well it would sort the data into the
subgroups we have already defined. The result is on the bottom of this
page:

The result is quite satisfying for it clearly shows the Northwest
Irish, Scots, MacWho and Scotland to Virginia subgroups (aka subclades
or clusters). It also shows that the Atlantic group is more
encompassing than I have heretofore recognized - many persons who are
Unclassified can now be classified as Atlantic by use of this diagram.
You will also see that Robert Wade Ferguson, currently classified as
Atlantic, might better be classified as South Irish. Persons in the
grey area between South Irish and Atlantic would do well to upgrade to
67 markes to make this distinction clearer.
