Hello all,

Colin has graciously subscribed me to this mailing list after walking me
through the process of ordering the DNA kit. My nephew - the last male
Ferguson in our line - has agreed to do the test. Hoorah!

I descend through John Ferguson, b. 6 Jan 1781, North Carolina, d. 14 Apr
1876, Claiborne Co., Tennessee. John was married twice: first to Nancy
Morgan, possibly in Wilkes Co., Tennessee, and second to Lavina/Melvina
Lannonds (her last name is questionable - I have seen many, many different
variants).

There was a second Ferguson family in Claiborne Co., TN in the early 1800s -
Thomas Ferguson (b. abt 1794 in North Carolina, d. Jun 1858, Claiborne Co.,
TN) and I often wonder if the two families were related.

Our Fergusons moved from Tennessee to Kentucky and then to Indiana. After
my grandfather, James M. Ferguson drowned in the Ohio River, my grandmother
moved her family to Los Angeles.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that "my" Fergusons will somehow connect to
one of you.

Betty
