Maureen,
Thanks for the implied suggestion that a look- up might be possible. Here are
the full names of interest:
REBECCA McGAHEY was born "in Ballinamallard" 1826 (by calculation) - died
1923 at age 97(NSW death certificate ) Father's name was ARCHIBALD McGAHEY,
farmer.
RICHARD BOWLES and his wife KITTY (KEARNS) were both deceased by 1841 (but
maybe not till after the census) when their daughter Catherine aged "15 years
and over" came to Australia, her birth being sworn to by the rector of
Tubrid. Richard Bowles was a schoolmaster and I believe had his own school
in the house of a Mr J Wilson in the townland of Letterkeen
SAMUEL BOWLES, (son of Richard Bowles, schoolmaster, and CATHERINE (CAIRNS) -
spelled this way on Samuel's Paisley death certificate - was 46 of age when
he died in Paisley in 1867. By calculation born c1821 probably in Ireland, I
would think. (Scottish death certificates did not state place of birth) He
was in Paisley by 1850 when he married Rebecca MdGahey (spelled McGachie in
old parochial register.of Abbey parish, Paisley). They may both have been
still in Fermanagh in 1841.
No hurry - I am off for a week's holiday now and will have arrears of emails
to find on return.
TIA and Cheers --- Eleanor
