Jay,

I think I might have a connection for you; it is very slim, but the
circumstantial information is too coincidental to ignore.
I believe that Sally Fish was the daughter of Benjamin D. Fish & Chloe
Fuller of Cincinnatus, Cortland Co., New York. Benjamin & Chloe had one
daughter that I have not been able to find at all. She shows up in the 1840
U.S. census as a girl 15-20 years old in Benjamin's household, which fits
for Sally. She also shows up in other state census records also.
Next, Sally would have had two brothers, Almon & Clinton Fish. Almon moved
to Mentor, Lake Co., Ohio in the mid 1850s. Benjamin & Chloe were living
with Almon in the 1860 U.S. census. Almon later moved to Long Lake, Grand
Traverse Co., Michigan before moving back to Tully, Onondaga Co., New York,
where he is found in the 1880 U.S. census. Almon died in Tully in 1887.
I have a bunch more information on the Fish family & can put some more
evidence together for you, but I see a pattern & I think that this might be
your line. Other Fish family members moved to the Grand Traverse Co.,
Michigan area from the Cortland Co. area. Drop me a line at
& I can give you a bunch more information.

I would check the following sources for more information:

Cortland Co. Historical Society
Onondaga Co. Rootsweb.com site - they have most of the Onondaga Co.
cemeteries transcribed & you might find Sally in one of them.
Check 1860 U.S. census in Traverse City, Michigan for Lewis Crane - see if
living close to Almon

> Need ancestors and siblings of Sally Fish who married Lewis S. Crain(e) or
Crane abt 1845, NY. They are listed in the 1850 census for Tully Post
Office, Onandaga, New York. Lewis was a laborer, age 24, born NY, Sally was
age 29, born NY, son Sylvester, age 2. We have info on his ancestors and
descendants. She may have died about 1856-1860, or left Lewis. He is listed
with children Sylvester, Vilace (Leslie?), and Rosana (age 4) but without a
wife in the 1860 census for Traverse City, Michigan. The last two children
are listed as being born in Ohio.
