I also have Fitzgeralds who arrived in 1778 and settled in Virginia (now WVA).
He was Thomas Fitzgerald who married Eleanor O'Farrell.  Their son, Thomas
O'Farrell Fitzgerald, was born at sea on the voyage to America.  His son, my
great, great Grandfather was Edward O'Farrell Fitzgerald, married Lacey Ann
Taylor and moved to Ohio.

Hi Betty,
I just have to comment about the 1700s being a couple of hundred years before
the first Fitzgeralds arrived in New England.  I have a Fitzgerald ancestor that
I can trace back to 1770 in York County, ME.  I think his father or grandfather
was married in York County in about 1710.  There were also early Fitzgeralds in
Boston.
