I waited YEARS before beginning my research/recording in earnest
simply because I wasn't going to want top do the data entry twice. I
was given a program over 20 years ago that ran on CP/M (this was PRE-
DOS) but I didn't use it because, I was a professional dsigner &
programmer of databases myself then, and it simply wasn't robust
enough. I didn't have the time to write my own, so I waited.

Good thing I did. Several operating systems, languages and an
internet later, the dust has settled. I have used Macs for over 15
years, and now that the OS is based on UNIX, it is more stable and
robust then ever.

The prime, numero uno, gold standard of programs on the Mac platform
is REUNION by LeisterPro http://www.leisterpro.com/.

I exchange data with cousins, some of whom use REUNION, others don't
with no hassle, either via GEDCOMs or Family File (REUNION's) format.

It is not free, but the good stuff, with excellent support rarely is.
