I am also a descendent, through son William Ervin BROOKS. My info states John Alford was born in Alachua county, rather than Bradford (I don't think Bradford existed in 1831). There is only one BROOKS listed on the 1840 Alachua census, that is a Wiley BROOKS. There are several BROOKS on the Columbia Co census in 1840 however.
Let's compare info....
