Date: Thu, 27 Sep 2001 11:19:58 EDT
The Florida State Genealogical Society celebrates its 25th annual
conference year with a 2-day event. The conference, featuring main speaker,
George G. Morgan (Ancestry.com) and special guest speaker and Florida
author, Patrick D. Smith, will be held on November 9 and 10, 2001, at the
Four Points Sheraton, Orlando, Florida. For more information, visit the
conference web site at: www.rootsweb.com/~flsgs/confrnce.htm or email
In addition, the Society sponsors a prestigious program that honors
descendants of pioneers who settled in Florida prior to statehood in 1845.
At the conference’s Friday night banquet, these descendants are presented
with certificates earned by successfully completing an FSGS pioneer
application. More information and copies of the applications can be found
on the FSGS web site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~flsgs. Over 1000 pioneers
and 3800 descendants have been honored in the past.
