Dear Genealogist and Friends,

What can we do to change the conditions at the Calhoun County Courthouse.

This letter from Barbara Winge has me very upset.......

for the past 10 years I have been using this room for my research and I knew it was in terrible shape and thought that the Calhoun Genealogical Soc. or someone would do something before it was to late.....

this has got to be handle and SOON !!!!!!!!

sent me your in-put ??????......................Beverly Mount-Douds

President, Gulf County Genealogical Soc. Of Port St. Joe, Fla.

My email from Barbara Winge and Marlene Womack of Panama City, Fla.

Thank you so very much for including me in your notice about

Dale Cox. He is a wonderful speaker. I have heard him before

and I was so impressed. I regret that the Bay County Genealogy

Society meets the same day.

For your information: Marlene & I went to the courthouse at

Blountstown. They did not welcome us. We requested to go

upstairs and we were taken. I have to explain twice that we

were NOT doing genealogy. Any way. The room is cleared. All

of the books are on the floor in the hall!!! They are stacked

up like match boxes. No rhyme or reason. On the counter we

found some DD214s loose, a couple of marriage licenses, some

discharge papers, and other loose items. I did find Will Book A

just tossed on the floor in the room. It was horrible as far as

I am concerned. I am very distrubed as these records will be

lost, perhaps even thrown away as "too much trouble to file."

Marlene & I plan to go back on Wednesday.

Do you know how Scott's Ferry got its name?

Thank you for inviting us to your book signing. We always

appreciate invitations. Again, thank you for letting me know

about Dale Cox. I regret to say the BCPL never got a copy of

his books. I asked for them but he forgot.

Also I hope that you will give one of your books to the BCPL in

memory of Loy as you said. Nothing shy about me!

Love, Barbara
