Dear list members:

I have received a lot of email regarding this new list. I have also received
all kinds of inquiry about why I created the new list.

First, I have had more emails about Jackson County in the last two days than
I had all in one year last year.

Second, I have had people send me greetings and updating their contact
information that I have not heard from in more than a year. I have also received
several surname inquires about people searching for ancestors. I have also
received a topographical map of Jackson County.

Third, everybody in the world is not a genealogist. There are hunters,
fisherman, geologists, cave explorers, joggers, swimmers, and campers who enjoy NW
Florida. They may not even care who were their great grandparents. They all
see things and do things that genealogists do not do. They also see remote
areas of the County and usually have healthy respect for the environment, for
old graveyards, and historic places. I think we can all learn from each other.
Anyone who finds the grave of one or my ancestors will receive my eternal
gratitude and my compliments on the new list. I am sure there are many creative
ways to help each other.

Fourth, Why can't we all just get along and share our knowledge with one
another?

I hope these responses explain the reasons for the new list.
