William Philip DEWEES - son of Philip and Maria [SANCHEZ] Dewees-
married before 1853 Maria Constantia TRAVERS, daughter of William and
Rebeca TRAVERS. William Philip DEWEES was apparently the Philip Dewees
who is listed in a Jacksonville newspaper as dying in October 1857. He
with probably several of his children were buried in the Dewees family
plot in the Old City [Jacksonville] Cemetery.
But what happened to Maria Constantia TRAVERS after William's death?
Her father William TRAVERS, Jr. died in 1852, but where was he buried?
After William's death his wife Rebecca TRAVERS married Joseph FINNEGAN,
later the Florida general in the C.S.A. They are both buried in the Old
City Cemetery.
