For those of you who have mentioned the L'Engle family of Duval, here are some early DUVAL Co. marriages for the L'ENGLE surname. The original records can be found at the Duval Co. Courthouse. [ Please note - this is not my line and I have no further information]

1] Louis J. FLEMING, Esq. and Miss MARY E. L'ENGLE March 4,1858 Book 01 - Page 303

2] James Jacquelin DANIEL & Miss EMILY ISABEL L'ENGLE May 22, 1860 Book 01 - Page 366
This marriage took place at the Trinity Church, St. Augustine.

3] Dr. JOHN C. L'ENGLE & Sarah Cornelia DANIEL May 15,1861 application only Book 01 - Page 388 (certificate not returned so one does not know if the marriage took place and the certificate was lost or whether the marriage was called off.

A personal note: There was a Dr. Cornelius L'Engle, pediatrician, who practiced in the Duval County area in the 1960-70's. His was also associated with St. Vincent's Hospital.
