Hello all......I must get to Gainesville some day to search these records for family info,my Gibson line came from North Carolina to Gadsden county in the 1820's and must have had some impact on the area as early landowners.Ben Gibson was wounded at Gettysburg and lived in Havana in his late years.My Ggrandfather Oscar moved to Pinellas county in the 1920's.His brother Hutch remained in the area, in the Timber buisness around Havana.Gibson road is named for our family and the "Scotland" area was our home.My other line from Gadsden are the Slappey's,my ggrandmother was daughter of Wesley W. Slappey.,also an early resident of Gadsden.I am looking for a connection between James Gibson and John Gibson,father of Benjamin,they all have a connection in the early 1800's to Mecklenburg county,North Carolina.maybe all is forgotten about my family in gadsden county,but each piece adds to the completion of a puzzle...........Brian Gibson

The following 18 Gadsden County, Florida Newspapers are on microfilm and
"Indexed" in the University of Florida's Library System.
The Chattahoochee Bullentin, The Chattahoochee Tribune, River Junction
Tribune, The Gadsden County Herald, Gadsden County Times, The Gadsden
Democrat, The Quincy Commonwealth, The Quincy, Florida Herald, Quincy Herald
(Quincy, Fla.), Quincy Journal (Quincy, Fla.), The Quincy New Era, The Quincy
Republic, Quincy Semi-Weekly Dispatch, The Quincy Sentinel, Quincy Times (Quincy,
Fla.), Star (Quincy, Fla.) and the River Junction Tribune.
I must warn you that these are not complete collections. Some papers
have only a few editions. Dates start in 1840. Publishing dates are listed
for each paper.
I will be back in Gainesville on Monday and try to find out if this
catalog of newspapers is available online.
