Hi,
This is the first time for me to be here. I am hoping you can help me, for I sure don't know much on my great-great-great grandmother, Mary Ann Floyd. It was told to me that she was born abt. March 1828 in Tennessee and she married to unknown Wheeler. She had a child name John Charles Wheeler, born 1864 in Texas. I believe Mary Ann Floyd had only one child by Unknown Wheeler. My great-great grandfather, John Charles Wheeler, married to Sarelda Jane Scott in Texas. They had my great grandfather, James Abram Wheeler in Hill County, Texas in 1891.
I presume that Mary Ann Floyd's first husband Wheeler had died. For Mary Ann Floyd Wheeler had married to 2nd husband, Thomas P. Groves. Thomas was born abt. 1825 in Mississippi and died abt. 1875 in Hill County, Texas. They had a son name Abram Groves, born July 28, 1871 in Hill County, Texas.
I hope somebody recognize this Mary Ann Floyd. Who is her parents or her siblings? Do you know who Mary Ann Floyd married to Unknown Wheeler? The family tradition story that is pass down to us is that the father is General Joseph Wheeler, the "fighting Joe". Something about Mary was married to General Joseph Wheeler's brother or illegimate brother. But the brothers went separate civil war's side, one on the North and other on the South. Her husband got killed and he was not the one who father Mary Ann Floyd's child. It was General Joseph Wheeler who got Mary Ann Floyd's pregnant. He didn't married her, so I guess you call my gggreat grandfather, John Charles Wheeler, an illegimate child. That was the story that was pass down to me in my Wheeler's family. Whether that is true or not, I do not know. If somebody can help me with this, I will humbly appreciate your help. Thank. Teresa Young
