Subject: [FLOYD-L] Give the Canadians an Olympic Gold Medal
Date: Wed, 13 Feb 2002 03:43:29 -0600

I am writing to everyone in my e-mail list and asking you to
join me in my campaign:

Please join me in helping correct a wrong I feel the judges
of the Olympic Figure Skating competition did in awarding a
Silver Medal to the Canadian Skating team this past week.

I believe that the Olympic Committee, the ( IOC ) needs to
over turn the decision of the judges by inviting the
Canadian Team back up to the podium and giving them a Gold
Medal for their performance. I do not suggest that they
remove the Gold from the Russians however nor do I suggest
that they say anything about it being a tie. Every one
performed in a wonderful fashion and the record book should
read that the performance of both teams should be awarded
the gold medal. To remove the Gold from the Russians would
be another mistake and I feel that once they have been
awarded the Medal and since they, the performers, did
nothing wrong to have it removed, then they should be
allowed to keep it. The wrong is not the fault of the
performers but the fault of the judging staff. An since an
obvious wrong has been done in my opinion, I feel this
would be a wonderful way for the IOC to correct that wrong

Give the Canadians a Gold Medal.

Also, if any of the judges, if found to be in the on going
investigation, having performed in a manor not consistent
with the rules of judging, or found to be in collusion or
having made any deals with other judges for their voting the
way they did. --- Then the IOC should immediately remove
them from the judging staff, and replace them with any
alternates they have. It is also my opinion that those
removed or found guilty, should NEVER be allowed to have any
thing to do < ever again > with pre-Olympic or Olympic
judging in the future! A strong message needs to be sent to
the judging staff of the future Olympic Games.

In order to voice our opinion and help correct a mistake
made we need to get the word out to every one we know and
feel who could help as soon as possible If you feel the
way I do, then I ask you to forward this e-mail, or any
other thoughts you wish to add to every one you know in
order that we get the word out to the Canadians and the rest
of the world that we support the correcting of a possible
wrong doing at the Olympic Games. I hope the Olympic
Committee gets the word too of our feelings and takes some
action on their part to show their support in correcting any
wrong doings. Giving the Canadians a Gold Medal would sure
show the world that they care about their participants and
future Olympians that mistakes can and will be corrected.

Thanks, Steve Everley
