In 1870 census Stephen's family were in Jackson County, TN . In 1880 in
Clay County. They probably lived in the same house because a portion of Jackson
County was turned into Clay County about that time. I guess you have
checked, but none of the Clay County records are available on USGenweb right now.
They seem to have vanished after 1880. I don't have them in my Floyd line
who are all in East TN, but it is a fascinating problem. I'll keep looking and
see if I can come up with anything.
