In our corner of the world, we didn't have a goat man, but did have a fellow that came around the neighborhood with a pony. Children could sit on the pony and let the man take their picture. He had a vest and western hat the children could put on if they wanted. For many years, I had a picture of the girl across the street on the pony. Though I didn't graduate with that class, I went to their 40th class reunion, as I began 1st grade with some of those classmates. I found the picture of Mary Helen on the pony and took it and gave it back to her. That picture bothered me as it always reminded me how poor we were and how heartbroken I was, that the man couldn't take my picture too.. With my Dad in the Vet's Hospital, Mom couldn't afford the 50-cents to have my picture taken. That's been about 65 years ago, but I remember it, like it was yesterday!
