Hi all, My ancestry descends from Andreas FORT, b. ca.1736 in Germany &
d.ca 1792 in Montgomery Co., NY & mar 6 Sept 1761 Maria Catharine
WALRATH ( a Palatine family) . Andreas appears on a 1766 Canajoharie,NY
& 1790 Palatine,NY tax lists and he served in C.Yates Militia Co. in
1760.
My line descends through his son Peter FORT b. May 3 1770 d .Aug 5
1859 mar Oct 16 1792 Catharine DILLENBECK. Peter FORT and his
descendants lived in the Danube/Stark area of Herkimer County, NY .
The Surname FORT is recorded as FORTH in some of the early records
dealing with Andreas and Peter, but appears as FORT in all recordings
after approx. 1790.
I would appreciate any correspondance with anyone researching this line.
