I am searching for information on Jerome FOSTER. Jerome married Isabella
GATES. On October 29, 1861 they had Henry Edwin FOSTER (my ggrandfather) in
St. Lawrence County, NY. I do not know the town. In the 1870 census at the
age of 8 Henry is shown living with his grandparents Timothy and Ellen
(PATTON) GATES. In the 1880 census at the age of 18 Henry is still living
with his grandparents but has moved to Pepin, WI with them. Henry's obit says
that he moved there with them at the age of 12 and lived there until his
death. Henry died in Pepin on May 6, 1918. Henry married Idah Erickson and
had children.

The only other information that I am trying to verify is that Jerome served NY
during the Civil War in Regiment 1, Company D. In the 1885 WI census he is
listed as having a Thorp post office. I am trying to verify if this is
Henry's father or not.

Henry was suppose to have had a brother, but because I cannot ever find Henry
living with is parents in a census I am having a hard time verifying that. I
don't even find his parents ever in a census.

I have really come to a stumbling block. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate
it.
