I have reached a dead end in trying to trace the roots of my Foster
ancestors.
Family records indicate that Elisha Foster (1766-1833) was born near Boston.
He married Lucy (1767-1828), who may have been a cousin also named Foster,
They started a family near Hinsdale, VT about 1790 and moved to Herkimer
County, NY about 1800. in 1816, they again moved, helping to settle Amherst,
Ohio. We have complete family records from that date forward. >>
The locations/times you list are very similar to another research problem I
have. It is very possible that you lose a generation because they were Tories
in the Rev. War and uprooted for 15-20 years to Canada...Nova Scotia or New
Brunswick...and then re-entered the United Stated through Canada or upstate
New York. It happened a lot. You might try that angle.
