Searching for anyone who might have any connection to Capt. James FOSTER.
He is found in the 1800 Washington Co. PA cencus as being born between
1740-55. He is shown as living next door to his son James FOSTER, born in
1865. One of these James FOSTERS is listed as having sold some land to
David ENOCHS in 1767. He is also listed in the Land Grantor index from
1781-1924, as the very first Foster listed. He was listed as James Sr.
living in Chartiers Twp., and his wife was named Pheobe. It appears that
next he moved to Canon Twp.
I was also able to find in the IGI index a James Foster having married
Phebe Axtel (Reed) May 13, 1771 in Bristol Co. Mass. , the widow of Daniel
AXTEL 1704-1761.

This family moved across the Ohio river into Steubenville, Jefferson Co.
Ohio in the early 1800's.
