If you can help me you can answer part or all of a family scandal that only
on eperson who is alive knows about- and he is not talking. It started long
ago when my great grandmother Marguerite Borgmeyer married (no record of
this) a man by the name of Willard Hill Foster (b-~1892). Willard's father
was Sydney Foster and was said to have come from the swamps. Sydney developed
an insurance business in Des Moines, Iowa and died of prostate cancer at the
age of 75. Willard Foster had two sons with Marguerite Borgmeyere before they
"divorced" in 1920. My grandfather and great uncle were these two sons (born
in Pittsburgh, PA on 3/12/1915 and 12/19/1916). Marguerite Borgmeyer went on
to marry Herndon P. Hippee and led her sons Willard Hill Foster, Jr. and
Charles Sydney Foster believe that Herndon P. Hippee was their real father
and that their real names were William Henry Hippee and Charles Louis Hippee.
Only when my great uncle Charles was applying for a passport did he see his
birth certificate and see that he was not who he thought he was. ANd thus
Charles told my grandfather and they spoke to their mother Marguerite and she
told them a little about their biological father Willard Hill Foster, Sr. And
know I am looking for Willard Hill Foster who I believe was born in Des
Moines, IA and died at the age of ~35 and his death certificate said that he
"drank himself to death" and we have been unable to find a marriage
certificate between himslef and Marguerite Borgmeyer so if you have any info.
that might help please send it on to me and we can share family history.
Thanks a lot!
Susan Allender
