To the list, That was
a neat lesson to all of us. Complain about something then do
the very thing we have complained about........I am sure that is called
human nature. The person was un sure of self, all
ready......and for all of we cousins, 1/2 atom, probably, but to pounce
is not nice.
I'm researching the family from Christopher born 1650, Surry Co. Va.
His mom was Mary Jordan Bayley Foster, only mentoned in the info
of her brother George Jordan. He was in the House of Burgess for 40
years(senate), his will and his papers is informitive.
The decendants of Christopher are traceable to and including Arthur
(md. Martha Collier) fought at Yorktown with 2 sons. My elusive James
born 1762 and his bro. John 1761, was captured and sent to Burmuda
exchanged but war endedbefore they returned. The bro. John md and
went on to serve Alabama senate and helped build Alabama U. One son was
one of the 4 students of the first graduating class there.
My James md. Elizabeth in Va. and disappeared from any
record. Our jumped link turns up in Lafayette
County about 1839 John& Mary Rodgers and a group moved from Ga. to Ala>
to Ar. That John is related to the mother of Mr. Hogg that was Gov.
of Texas around 1900. I haven't been ableto connect that info for 40
years. John& Mary had a son Timothy Wood Foster
that after the Civil War moved to Fulton, Co. Elizabeth, Ar. T.W.
was convescated to serve in the Civil War but no info has been found
on that. He was to guard a crossroad x from his
home.......could he have been ...not actually enlisted?? ( a 14 yr. old
son served in his stead sometimes.) Oh, all of these
families (all had re creating earth by having at least a dozen kids)
brought the Baptist Church to their cmmunities and its still going on
today. Any of you with the proud name of Foster have any info
on this branch?? Thanks Olivia in Ca.
