Jane - Thank you for the information and the offer. I will need to see if
I can dig out some documents that may give a more precise location and I
will send that to you privately.

I don't know if a little geography will help or not, but it can't hurt.
Gloucester County & York County are located across the James River and York
River from Surry & Isle of Wight Counties. Isle of Wight & Surry share a
long dividing line. The town of Jamestown is right across the James River
from Surry landing and Chippokes Plantation which was and still is a working
plantation from early colonial times. Surry landing was used as a crossing
point from Jamestown to the land located on the lower James. This area is
rich in water access and agricultural land.

I live near this area and have some county land searching to do for
FOSTERS and BARTONS as well as related family names and I would be willing to
help with site locations, while I am doing my leg work, with the necessary
information as to exact (or at least close) locations that you are interested
in. Gloucester county is considerably more difficult for me to travel to,
but if you will look for web sites which link you to the Virginia area called
the Northern Neck that is the area that Gloucester is located in and there is
a wealth of information available about that area.

Jean - Since my Richard was born around 1725, I don't think Richard Forster
of County Durham, England, would be his father or grandfather--though
grandfather is possible--and either Richard or John Foster could possibly
be his father--if they were born in the latter half of the 1600's. Do you
have anything that would indicate a Richard born about this time is
connected with your information?

I have a John and a Richard Foster in Glouchester Co, on the right dates.
Their father was Richard Forster 1619 born in County Durham, England and
emigrated to Glouchester Co, Va. I have Robert Forster born 1587 in England,
married to Mira Isham born 1587 in England. Any help?
Jean in Texas
