Thank you, Betty Jean. I've had some fascintating cousins I wasn't aware
of. My g g grandparents, Jesse Seay WINGO and Jane "Jincie" FOSTER, also
were members of the Bethlehem Baptist Church before moving from Spartanburg
to Forsyth County, GA, in 1845 or 1846.

Walter,
Laura Patillo Foster Wingo was the youngest of 12 children of Garland Foster
and Nancy Moss Foster. (Garland is a son of William "Major Billy" Foster and
Mary Ann Jones James Foster). William Anderson Wingo moved to Texas before
the Civil War and after the war returned to Spartanburg and married Laura
Patillo Foster on 17 Feb 1872 in Spartanburg Co., SC. Laura's granddaughter,
Elizabeth Moss Wingo Banks of Duncan, OK, sent me a precious picture of her
grandparents on their wedding day.
World War II, US Navy Admiral James Otto Richardson is the son of Garland
and
Nancy Moss Foster's 9th child, Frances Goodlett "Fanny" Foster and John
James
Richardson. Fanny Foster Richardson died when her son Otto was just a little
over a year old. Laura and William A. Wingo took Otto to raise with their
own
family. And Otto turned out pretty good! And so did the Wingo children!
William Anderson Wingo died 15 May 1910 in Ada, OK, and Laura died 19 Dec
1921, in Ada OK.
Garland's and Nancy Moss Foster's 5th child, Mary Ann Foster, is my
Great-grandmother. Mary Ann married her second cousin, James J. Foster, a
grandson of Robert Foster, brother of William. Robert Foster was a founding
member and deacon of Bethlehem Baptist Church, at what is now Roebuck, SC.
Mary Ann and James J. Foster lived between what is now Roebuck and Cedar
Springs in Spartanburg County. James J. Foster died in the Civil War and
Mary
Ann is buried at Bethlehem.
The 4th child of Garland and Nancy Moss Foster was Calvin Foster, who is the
ancestor of Jeanne Foster Clark who also lives in Spartanburg.
Best wishes to all my cousins, near and far.
Betty Jean Foster Dill, Spartanburg, SC
