Cheryl,
I also cannot find my Foster's landing point nor ship.

All I have is a marriage record dated 5 Jan 1779 in Franklin Co., PA. for
Hugh Foster and Mary McCullough. Where he came from is a total mystery. I do
know he referred to himself as an Irishman.

From Franklin Co.,, he moved to Westmoreland. When Mercer Co. opened up in
1799, he went there, where he died. I have his will from Mercer dated 1816.

The 1786 tax list from Franklin Co. lists a Charles Foster and Hugh Foster.
Not a clue to the relationship. Also, in the church where Hugh was married,
there is a Daniel Foster having children baptized at the same time as Hugh.
Also, not a clue to relationship.

From the marriage record, Hugh was here before your Alexander. What always
amazes me is the people always seem to be in the same place at the same time,
and I can't seem to establish a relationship.

Just making a guess, Hugh could be an Uncle to your Alexander. If I were
going to a strange new place, I'd like to be near kinfolk.

Hugh named his first son James, his second son was Daniel. And to really add
to the coincidences, when Hugh moved to Mercer, he lived next door to a
Robert Foster. Again, relationship unknown.
Hugh's other children were William, John, Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary, Isabel,
and Jane. Isabel and Jane were the only ones born in Mercer Co. Isabel is my
line. She and Jane married Gordon brothers.

It would be nice to find a connection.
