Message Board Post:
1. Can anyone tell me anything about the history of villages like Sessenheim or Leutenheim, or of the surrounding Bas-Rhin region, during the 18th century, the 19th century, or the 20th century?
2. What would life have been like there in, say, the 1830s?
3. What would have motivated young male residents of such villages to have left their parents, families and relatives, and their homes there, to emigrate to America in the 1830s?
Thanks for anything along these lines.
Tom
