Thank you for your reply. Yes, I do realize that Paris and Lyon are big, complex cities, however, I just wanted to put something "out there" for now, before plodding through the smaller areas. Paris and Lyon do present challenges, but I believe you would agree this is a little better than just "France". They still may be false leads, but what the heck, many of my ancestors seemed to have been of the opinion that they shouldn't make my searches too easy.
I had previously gone to Geneanet and got many hits on all three surnames and are in the process of contacting some individuals, and I'm looking at passenger lists into New Orleans. I've also been checking out other helpful French sites and learning all I can about how to go about the search.
NEYROD (I did mispell in my message) apparently is French, as I pulled up 99 hits on Geneanet.
CHAMBOUR is also a French surname, as it received 54 hits, however, I agree about the various towns and will check them out. Several were de CHAMBOUR.
