Hi All,
The problem with WInBMD that I described the other day is now fixed and the new version (2.0.1) is available from http://winbmd.rmhh.co.uk
This version is only different from 2.0.0 if you are transcribing from Fiche or Film - there is no change for Scan Users.
Anyone who has already installed WinBMD can upgrade to 2.0.1 by following the "Upgrade" button on the website. This will download you a new file called "winbmd.exe" which should be placed directly into your WInBMD folder (normally C:\Program Files\WinBMD) replacing the file with the same name that is already there. If anyone is unclear what to do then please drop me a line.
As an aside there has been some discussion recently regarding square brackets. It is my understanding that square brackets are intended to present a choice and that there must be at least 2 characters within the brackets and WinBMD enforces this rule - it will not allow square brackets containing less than 2. The description that Graham gave of [_9] is as far as I know correct except that I always arrange the characters within the brackets such that the first is the most likely and therefore [9_] is perhaps better.
Cheers
Ian
