I may be stating the obvious, but in an earlier email you quoted a certain
hard disk size on the servers but did not say is it consisted of a number of
hard disks connected in a RAID configuration. If not, this would be one way
of significantly improving the throughput.

We are already doing something on these lines!

Not because we want to make donations a major income stream, but
because people do ask us if they can give us money, and it would be
churlish to refuse :-)

For credit card payments, we are charged a processing fee, which would
certainly mean that £1.00 payments weren't practical and £5.00 would
be borderline.

We will also be able to accept sterling cheques and electronic
transfer (internet banking)
