I'm transcribing 1843 September births, letter W. After almost a page of
the surname WILLIAM (including three unfortunates with "William" as their
Christian name!), I started on the mighty clan of WILLIAMS.
Imagine my surprise to find that the first Christian name was "Vincent" - at
least, I can't make it out to be anything else - followed, more plausibly,
by "Abraham". Vincent's entry is perfectly normal in appearance, and his
surname is certainly WILLIAMS.
Any suggestions as to an explanation for this apparent brainstorm on the
part of the clerk?
