The quality of the scans I have seen recently is excellent. No matter how
good the scan, if the quality of the typescript, produced on those old
'thumpy', typewriters with fabric ribbons, is not near perfect, some
characters are going to be difficult to read. Dave is right; the 'best of
three rule', is not accepted by statistics people. If I downloaded a scan
that I could not read reasonably well, I should ask my coordinator for
another to be allocated. I hope that this is the correct procedure. I
assume that the unsatisfactory scan would be replaced in due course. There
is just one further question. Are percentage errors reported back to the
humble transcriber?
