Hi Scott
You wrote to FreeBMD-admins as follows:

Hi there

Firstly, I'd like to say that FreeBMD is an incredibly fantastic resource
to
genealogists, and I really appreciate it's existence.

I would like to suggest that an extra column be added to the search results
that are displayed. I'd like to see the county in which the B, M, or D is
registered in. Currently I have to go through the search results and click
each place name to find out where it is. Another option would be to have
the county information displayed in a "bubble" when the mouse pointer is
hovered over the place name.

I can't think of any other ways to improve your web site, as it's already so
good! J

By clicking on the link to the district in each search result you can see
details of the county or counties in which were located the parishes in that
district. This opens in a new window.

e.g. The district Plomesgate is in the county of Suffolk; information about
it can be found here.

The link in the word 'here' takes you to the appropriate page in GENUKI, the
online source for information about UK genealogy, in this case to
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/plomesgate.html

This clearly provides far more information than a simple entry in an extra
column would, quite apart from the fact that no such column exists in the
original indexes of which we are providing
transcriptions.

The other feature that FreeBMD has, of course, is that you can search on a
county or counties, and get results only for districts which covered parts
of those counties.

One of the excitements of Family History research is learning a bit of
Geography along the way.

Thank you for your interest in FreeBMD. Details of how to contribute to
FreeBMD as a transcriber are to be found from the 'Join FreeBMD' link on the
FreeBMD home page www.freebmd.org.uk .

I am copying this to the FreeBMD-discuss mailing list, where suggested
changes to FreeBMD are aired.
