I also have been using Vista since purchasing a new laptop last February. I
have had no problem with my WinBMD, everything is where it should be. The
only thing I seem to do differently is to take charge of where the file is
installed. I like to keep all my genealogy files together, separate from my
other stuff. I do not let Vsta automatically install to Program files (did
this with XP and previous versions also). I created a master file for
Genealogy, then subfiles for my genolocial related programs. This seems to
have worked well for me.

I've swapped to the Discuss list with this topic. I feel the balance needs
to made.
I had early problems with Vista and WinBMD, which were mostly due to my
inadequacies rather than anything wrong with WinBMD and Vista. I have used
Vista with a new machine since February of this year and it has bedded down
well and has many more advantages than disadvanges.
WinBMD exists in amongst my program files, complete with an Output folder.
If I go to Windows Explorer the contents of the folder are not shown, but
when I go to my Output folder via WinBMD all the files are there, I don't
mind where Vista hides then away as long as I can use them when I want.
When downloading scans I have to navigate to the Output folder with the
first file, the others in the download are placed in the Output folder
without any other intervention. This is broadly what happened with WinBMD
under XP.
My nomination for thing I do not like about Vista is UAC. The most useful
tool (speaking as a syndicate coordinator) is the Snipping tool.
I can honestly say that the migration to Vista from XP was no worse than the
migration from other versions going back, I think in my case, to Windows
version 3. I skipped Windows ME, but progressed through the others.
My advice - for what it is worth, is don't upgrade until you have to, but
when you do you will find nothing too difficult
John
