FreeBMD change of case for names (what is the logic)

I have noticed that the Surname in FreeBMD often changes case without notice or further scanning. Is there a reason for this? I would suggest that the actual scan and transscription should be on the principle of what you se is what you get. Changes that are done automatically to UPCASE or whatever should appear as a designiated change (rather like) the red Plus sign - with some explanation.

I have previously noticed that the precide transcription of District also is subject to changes. The same applies I guess. In some early details it is importangt to knop the precise spelling as transcribed. Lower case L and upper case I are visually similar. Lower case f and Uppercase S likewise.

Given the amount of work already doe and the possible loss of case sensitivity to date - perhaps the request is not to allow further system changes at this stage and to move forward with case sensitivity,
